 Destiny's Child formed in early
90s with Beyoncé Knowles, LaTavia Roberson,
Kelly Rowland, and LeToya Luckett (joining in
1993), all based in Houston, Texas. Music
interests began early with Knowles and her
cousin Rowland singing together in their
pre-teens. With Knowle's dad representing the
quartet, Destiny's Child began to move beyond
the local Houston music scene and toward
opening act status for the likes of SWV,
Dru Hill, and Immature.
Destiny's Child signed with
Columbia Records.

 Destiny's Child was introduced
to the music world with their contribution to
the soundtrack for Men
In Black with "Killing Time."

European tour in wake of the 9/11 terrorist
attacks. Knowles stated: "We're always
excited when we perform for our fans in
Europe and the UK. Postponing these shows was
the hardest thing for us because we truly
enjoy the fans. We made that decision the
very last second after taking a hard look at
the state of the world right now."
 The gals performed at The
Concert For New York City benefit concert in New
York City (later released as an LP) with
proceeds going to 9/11 charities.
Destiny's Child also performed
in a Washington, DC concert benefiting the
9/11 attack victims.
