 The Doors formed in LA with Jim
Morrison on vocals, Robby Krieger on guitar,
Ray Manzarek on keyboards, and John Densmore
on drums. Morrison met Manzarek in 1964 and
formed the Doors the following year after
recruiting Densmore.

During the year, Morrison,
Manzarek, and Densmore recorded demos of
Morrison's songs "Break On
Through," "Summer's Almost
Gone," "End Of The Night," and
"Moonlight Drive." Krieger joined
the group by the end of the year.

The Doors were singed by Elektra
Records.


 The Doors released their debut
LP The
Doors with the
classics "Break On Through,"
"Light My Fire," and "The
End."

The Doors topped the Billboard
Hot 100 singles chart with "Light My
Fire."

The Doors appeared on The Ed
Sullivan Show and were asked to delete
the line 'girl we couldn't get much higher'
when singing "Light My Fire" - they
agreed, but Morrison sang the lyrics any way.
The
Doors was
certified gold.

 The Doors
released Strange
Days with the
tracks "People Are Strange" and
"Love Me Two Times."

Morrison was arrested after a
Connecticut concert for verbally maligning
the police and resisting arrest.


 The Doors
released Waiting
For The Sun with the hit "Hello, I
Love You."
The Doors topped the Billboard
Hot 100 singles chart with "Hello, I
Love You."

The Doors topped the Billboard
LP charts for 4 weeks with Waiting
For The Sun.


Morrison was arrested in Florida
and charged with lewd and lascivious
behaviors in public after a performance that
included Morrison exposing himself,
simulating sexual acts, and being drunk and
profane in public.

 The Doors
released The
Soft Parade with the hit "Touch
Me."

Morrison was arrested for
interfering with a flight attendant while on
route to Arizona - charges were later
dropped.


 The Doors
released Morrison
Hotel.

Morrison got married.

Morrison is charged with public
drunkenness in LA after being found
unconscious on a woman's doorstep.

 The Doors
released Absolutely
Live.

The charges Morrison faced from
his arrest in March, 1969, resulted in a
guilty sentence and 8 months hard labor and
28 months probation. Morrison began an appeal
of the verdict and did not serve any prison
time for the verdict.

The Doors performed in New
Orleans in what would be their last
performance together with Morrison.


 The Doors released the
compilation set 13.

The Doors released L.A.
Woman with the classics "Riders
On The Storm" and "Love Her
Madly."

 Morrison died of heart failure
while in a bath tub in Paris at the age of
27.

The remaining 3 members of the
Doors released Other
Voices.


The compilation
