Jason Derulo, born September 21, 1989, hails from
Florida. Before hitting #1 with his first single,
Jason became known for his songwriting, dancing,
acting, and choreography. The arts have always had a
role in Jason's life - studying opera, ballet and
theater when young and eventually graduating from the
New York American Musical & Dramatic Academy.
Before turning 20, Jason had written songs for major
artists and won the grand prize on the TV show Showtime
At The Apollo in 2006. But success as a
songwriter wasn't enough for Jason. The ultimate goal
was to be a solo artist: "It was killing me. I
had a huge attachment to the songs I was writing, but
I had to give them up to make a quick buck. Being in
music, I was just hoping something would happen, that
somebody would notice me."
