 The Police consisted of Sting on
lead vocals and bass, Andy Summers on guitar,
and Stewart Copeland on drums. The conception
of the post-punk, New Wave-sounding Police
began in 1977 when Copeland began the trio
along with Sting and guitarist Henri Padovani
in England. Summers soon joined the trio and
a few months later Padovani left leaving the
Police as a trio and releasing their first
single "Fall Out."

 Outlandos
d'Amour was released late in the year
with the single "Roxanne." The LP
was slow to get the band noticed but the
Police continued with performances in the UK
and the US throughout the year.

"Roxanne" eventually
hit the Top 20 in the UK and the Top 40 in
the US, and the Police toured the UK.

 The Police topped the UK Singles
chart with "Message In A Bottle."

Reggatta
de Blanc was released.

concert in the US. The 7-continent concert
organized by Al Gore brought together over
100 artists to perform and raise the world's
awareness about the climate crisis and how to
make a difference to help the environment and
the world.

The Police reunion tour ended up
as the top-earning tour of 2007.
