Queen formed in 1972 in England
with Freddie Mercury (born Farok Bulsara) on
vocals, Brain May on guitar, John Deacon on
bass, and Roger Taylor on drums. The
formation of Queen happened first with a trio
consisting of May, Taylor and Tim Staffell
named Smile. When Staffell
left the group to pursue other musical
interests, Mercury came on board and Queen
was formed (using temporary bass players the
first year together). Deacon officially
joined the group in 1971. By 1972, Queen's
unique rock sound had landed them a recording
deal.
