Miley Cyrus
|
- Miley Cyrus was born
Destiny Hope Cyrus on November 23, 1992 in
Tennessee and is the daughter of country singer Billy
Ray Cyrus. The origins of her name Miley
came from years of being called 'smiley' when she
was little. Miley has stated "...the day I
was born my father started calling me Miley, for
'Smiley' and it stuck. Miley had a few small
acting roles before getting her own series. Miley
first got noticed for her TV show Hannah
Montana which debuted on the Disney Channel
in 2006.
- Miley had a small
guest starring role in her father's television
series Doc and appeared in the Tim
Burton film Big Fish.
- March 24: The television series Hannah
Montana began its run on the Disney channel.
Miley starred in the show as 'Miley Stewart' who
lives a duel life as a typical teenage girl with
brown hair and a superstar pop singer with blonde
hair named 'Hannah Montana.' The success of the
show resulted in huge marketing for Hannah
Montana products.
- June 15: The Hannah
Montana soundtrack was certified 3x
platinum.
- June 26: Miley released her first
solo LP Hannah
Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus. The set included half the
songs being credited to Hannah Montana and being
meant as a sequel to the first soundtrack for the
show, and the other of half of the songs meant to
introduce Miley as a solo artist.
- October 18: Miley began the very
successful 'Best Of Both Worlds Tour.'
- April: Controversy hit Miley
when photos from a Vanity Fair shoot
were made public included an artsy topless (but
wrapped in a sheet) photo of Miley shot by Annie
Leibovitz.
- August 9: Miley topped the
Billboard 200 LP chart for 1 week and Top
Internet Albums chart for 1 week with Breakout. The LP sold over 371,000
copies its first week of release in the US.
- April 10: Hannah Montana - The
Movie topped the box-office taking in $34
millions its first week of release.
