Beyoncé Giselle Knowles was born
September 4, 1981 in Texas. As a child, Beyoncé
began singing and dancing early and was
encouraged to enter singing and dancing
competitions by her dance instructor. Prior to
naming themselves Destiny's Child, the 4some "Girl's
Tyme' sang at local events and eventually
performing at, but losing, Star Search.
Beyoncé began her solo success before Destiny's Child had split up in 2005. By
the time Beyoncé had reached her mid-20's, she
had already sold millions of LPs worldwide, won
10 Grammy Awards, and topped countless music
charts as a member of Destiny's Child and as a solo artist.
January 4: Beyoncé topped the
Billboard Rhythmic Top 40 chart for 3 weeks
helping out Jay-Z on "'03 Bonnie & Clyde." The single also
topped the charts in Switzerland.
June 29: Beyoncé topped the UK LP
chart for 5 weeks with Dangerously
In Love. The LP also topped the
charts in Canada, Germany, Greece, Ireland, and
Norway, and hit the Top 10 in Australia, Holland,
Finland, New Zealand, and Switzerland.
July 6: Beyoncé topped the UK
singles chart for 3 weeks with "Crazy In Love." The single also
topped the charts in Ireland.
July 12: Beyoncé topped the
Billboard 200 LP chart for 1 week and Top
R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart for 1 week with Dangerously
In Loveselling over 317,000
copies its first week of release in the US
July 12: Beyoncé topped the
Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart for 8, the Hot
100 Airplay chart for 8 weeks, and the Hot
Digital Tracks chart for 7 weeks with "Crazy In Love."
July 18:Beyoncé
could be heard on the Bad
Boys 2soundtrack with the track "Keep Giving
Your Love To Me."
September 13: Beyoncé topped the
Billboard Dance Music/Club Play chart for 1 week
with "Crazy In Love."
September 19: Beyoncé starred in the
film The
Fighting Temptations and could be heard on The
Fighting Temptations soundtrack along with Missy
Elliott, MC Lyte, and Free
with "Fighting Temptation" and the
tracks "Fever," "Everything I
Do," "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot,"
"He Still Loves Me,"
"Summertime," and "Time To Come
Home."
September 27: Beyoncé topped the
Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks
chart for 5 weeks, R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart
for 5 weeks, and Rhythmic Top 40 chart for 7
weeks with "Baby Boy."
October 4: Beyoncé topped the
Billboard Hot 100 chart for 9 weeks and Hot 100
Airplay chart for 9 weeks with "Baby Boy."
February 17: Beyoncé won a Brit Award
for Best International Female Solo Artist.
March: Beyoncé was to release
another solo LP early in the year that would
include left-over material from her debut, but
decided instead to focus on the next Destiny's ChildLP.
June 11: Destiny's Child announced they would be
splitting up after their 'Destiny Fulfilled...
And Lovin' It' tour stating: "After a lot of
discussion and some deep soul searching, we
realized that our current tour has given us the
opportunity to leave Destiny's Child on a high note, united in
our friendship and filled with an overwhelming
gratitude for our music, our fans, and each
other."
January 28: Beyoncé topped the
Billboard Pop 100 chart for 5 weeks, Digital
Songs chart for 2 weeks, and Digital Tracks chart
for 2 weeks with "Check On It."
February 4: Beyoncé topped the
Billboard Hot 100 for 5 weeks and the Hot 100
Airplay chart for 3 weeks with "Check On It." The single also topped the
charts in New Zealand.
September 23: Beyoncé topped the
Billboard 200 LP chart for 1 week, Top Digital
Albums chart for 1 week, and Top R&B/Hip-Hop
Albums chart for 2 weeks with B'Day. The LP sold over 541,000
copies its first week of release in the US. The
LP also hit the Top 10 in Canada, Holland,
Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico,
New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Spain,
Switzerland, and the UK.
December 16: Beyoncé topped the
Billboard Hot 100 chart for 10 weeks, Hot 100
Airplay chart for 11 weeks, Pop 100 chart for 6
weeks, and Digital Songs chart for 4 weeks with
"Irreplaceable." The single also
topped the charts in New Zealand, Ireland, and
Australia.
January 15: Beyoncé was nominated
for a Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by
an Actress in a Motion Picture - Comedy or
Musical for Dreamgirls. She was also nominated in
the Best Original Song category for
"Listen" from Dreamgirls.
April: Beyoncé began her 'The
Beyoncé Experience' world tour.
April 7: Beyoncé released B'Day
(Deluxe Edition). The set featured the duet "Beautiful Liar" with Shakira, remixes, and some Spanish
versions of her songs. B'Day
(Deluxe Edition) was pulled from distribution due to
a lawsuit filed over the use of the song
"Still In Love (Kissing You)" which is
a cover of Des'ree's
"Kissing You" that was used without
permission.
April 7: Beyoncé topped the
Billboard Digital Track chart for 1 week and
Digital Songs chart for 1 week with Shakirawith"Beautiful Liar."
April 22: Beyoncé topped the UK
singles chart for 3 weeks with Shakirawith"Beautiful Liar." The single also
topped the charts in Germany, Ireland, New

December 13: Beyoncé surprised
everyone when she released a new LP - Beyoncé - on iTunes with no
pre-publicity. The in-store CD version will be
released by the end of the month. The set,
considered a 'visual album' is a combination of
new audio and video tracks.
December 28: Beyoncé topped the
Billboard 200 LP chart for 3 weeks, Digital
