 Beyoncé Giselle Knowles was
born September 4, 1981 in Texas. As a child,
Beyoncé began singing and dancing early and
was encouraged to enter singing and dancing
competitions by her dance instructor. Prior
to naming themselves Destiny's Child, the 4some
"Girl's Tyme' sang at local events and
eventually performing at, but losing, Star
Search. Beyoncé began her solo success
before Destiny's Child had split up in 2005.
By the time Beyoncé had reached her
mid-20's, she had already sold millions of
LPs worldwide, won 10 Grammy Awards, and
topped countless music charts as a member of Destiny's Child and as a solo artist.
