British songstress Ellie Goulding
was born 'Elana Jane Goulding' on December 30,
1986. Ellie's interest in music began in her
youth with learning the clarinet and piano, and
songwriting in her teens.
February 16: Ellie won the 'Critic's
Choice Award' at the Brit Awards.
March 1: Ellie released her debut
LP Lights in the UK - the LP was
released a year later in the US and re-released
as Bright Lights with 6 additional tracks
in the UK.
March 7: Ellie topped the UK LP
chart with Lights. The LP hit the Top 10 in
Australia, Ireland and Scotland.
October 27: Ellie broke a record on
the ARC Weekly Top 40 when "Lights" spent its 34th week on the
chart before falling off (the longest charting
song in the chart's history).
February 22: Ellie topped the
Billboard Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart for 1 week
with "Burn."
March 11: Ellie could be heard on
the Divergent soundtrack with the tracks
"Beating Heart," "Hanging On"
