Calvin Harris was born Adam
Richard Wiles on January 17, 1984 in Scotland and
rose to fame as a DJ and record producer. Harris
was recording demos of dance/electronic music in
his teens and released his first 12" club
single ("Da Bongos" and "Brighter
Days") when he was 18. In 2007, Harris
co-wrote and produced two songs for Kylie Minogue, and worked with rapper Dizzee
Rascal the following year.
June 18: Harris released his debut
LP I
Created Disco. The LP hit the Top 10 in the UK
and Scotland.
July 12: Harris topped the UK
singles chart for 4 weeks helping out Dizzee
Rascal and Chrome with
"Dance Wiv Me."
April 18: Harris topped the UK
singles chart for 2 weeks with "I'm Not
Alone."
August 23: Harris topped the UK LP
chart for 1 week with Ready
For The Weekend. The LP also topped the LP chart in
Scotland and hit the Top 10 in Ireland.
September 5: Harris topped the UK
singles chart for 1 week helping out Dizzee
Rascal with "Holiday."
November 5: Harris topped the
Billboard Hot Digital Songs chart for 5 weeks,
Digital Tracks chart for 5 weeks, and Pop Digital
Songs chart for 5 weeks helping out Rihannawith
"We Found Love."
November 19: Harris topped the
Billboard Dance Club Songs chart for 2 weeks and
Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart for 14 weeks helping
out Rihannawith
"We Found Love."
November 26: Harris topped the
Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Singles Sales chart for
1 week and Rhythmic Top 40 chart for 9 weeks
helping out Rihanna with "We Found Love."
November 4: Harris topped the UK LP
chart for 2 weeks with 18
Months.
The LP also topped the LP chart in Scotland, and
hit the Top 10 in Australia, Ireland, New
Zealand, Sweden, and Canada.
September 20: Harris topped the UK
singles chart for 1 week with help from John
Newman with "Blame."
November 4: Harris released Motion. The LP topped the LP
chart in Scotland, and hit the Top 10 in the US,
Australia, Canada, Holland, Ireland, New Zealand,
Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, and the UK.
