Kesha (mostly noted as
Ke$ha) was born Kesha Sebert on March 1, 1987 in
California and raised in Tennessee. In her teens,
Kesha began to pursue her music and dropped out
of high school to move to LA. Between moving to
LA and releasing her debut LP, Kesha had snuck
into Prince's home and left a demo
tape, sang background for a Britney Spears and Paris Hilton song,
co-wrote a track for The Veronicas,
and appeared in a Katy Perry video. But her biggest
break came with the uncredited appearance on theFlo Rida's #1 hit "Right Round." Kesha then signed with RCA
Records and focused on releasing her debut LP.
Kesha's reputation was summed up by Rolling
Stone describing her as "...here to let
the world know that loutish drunkenness and
sexual harassment aren't just for fellas
anymore."
Kesha released her debut LP Animal.
Kesha hit #1 for 8 weeks on the ARC
Weekly Top 40with "Tik Tok." January 2: Kesha topped the Billboard
Hot 100 chart for 9 weeks, Hot Digital Songs chart

Stone magazine's review of the LP called it
"...repulsive, obnoxious and ridiculously
catchy..." January 30: Kesha topped the Billboard

January 3: Kesha checked into a
rehabilitation facility that treats eating
disorders saying in a statement: "I'm a
