TIMELINE

t.A.T.u.button.gif (123 bytes) t.A.T.u. hail from Russia and consists of teens Lena Katina (Katina Elena Sergeevna) and Julia Volkova (Volkova Yulia Olegovna) . The duo was developed by Russian producer, Ivan Shapovalov in 1999. Before hitting the charts around the world, t.A.T.u. became a sensation in Russia with their provocative video and their debut LP selling over 1 million copies in their homeland. t.A.T.u. hit the Russian charts with "Ya Soshla s Uma (I've Lost My Mind)" and "Nas Ne Dogoniat (They Won't Catch Us"). Part of the appeal and controversy surrounding the duo has been their projection of teen-lesbian imagery.
