Of All Time !
We have ranked the top pop songs that have charted over the past
50+ years on The ARC Weekly Top 40 and Billboard Hot 100, and
come up with
a definitive list that will continue to expand as we add to it,
and continue to modify as new songs chart on The ARC Weekly Top
40.
Sia was born Sia Kate
Isobelle Furler on December 18, 1975 in
Australia. Sia is best described as an eclectic
singer and songwriter who became an unlikely pop
star worldwide in her late 30s with her singing
range, songwriting skills, and artistic
performances and videos. Sia appeared to have
music and the arts all around her when growing
up. Her parents were a musician and art lecturer
and her uncle is Colin Hay of Men At Work. Sia also was a background
performer for Jamiroquai and contributed vocals to Zero
7 on three of their LPs. After success
came internationally with the single "Chandelier," Sia began performing the
song with her face hidden in an effort to have
the focus be on the music and to maintain some
privacy and "...control over my image."
Sia has also been very vocal about her battle
with addictions to painkillers and alcohol in her
past, and suffering from depression.
December 23: Sia released her debut LP
OnlySee. The LP was released under her
full name 'Sia Furler'. The LP is no longer in
print.
June: Sia got her first Top 10
single in the UK with "Taken For
Granted."
April 5: Sia released Healing
Is Difficult in the US (released July 9, 2001 in
the UK). The LP focuses on how Sia dealt with the
sudden death of her boyfriend.
February 3: Sia released Colour
The Small One (released in the UK on January 19,
2004). The LP was re-released in the US two years
later after the track "Breathe Me" was
notably used in the series finale episode of Six
Feet Under.
May: Sia teamed up with Zero
7 for the song "Somersault."
May 5: Sia topped the Billboard
Dance Club Songs chart helping out Jack
Back, David Guetta, and Nicky Romero for
1 week with "Wild One Two."
April 3: Sia released the live LP Lady
Croissant. The tracks were recorded in April,
2006 at the Bowery Ballroom in New York City.
April 21: Sia hit the ARC Weekly Top 40 helping out David Guetta with "Titanium." The song was originally
written for another female artist to replace
Sia's vocals on the demo. Sia's vocals were
eventually preferred: "And then Mary J. Blige sang it. And then he (David Guetta) took her vocal off it and
put my vocal back on, my demo vocal, without
asking and released it. And I never even knew it
was gonna happen and I was really upset because I
had just retired. I was trying to be a pop
songwriter not an artist."
May 31: Sia hit the ARC Weekly Top 40with
"Chandelier." The song gained
national success with the video which featured 11
year old dancer Maddie Ziegler.
