TIMELINE

Pinkbutton.gif (123 bytes) Pink was born Alecia Moore on September 8, 1979 and grew up surrounded by music, although it wasn't the dance-edged music she eventually would embrace. Early into her teens, Pink was spreading her love of dance music into the clubs of Philadelphia. By age 13, Pink was joining a friend's rap group, 'Schools Of Thought' providing background vocals. Pink eventually made it into the front of the microphone and began writing her own music. Her ambition led to a MCA Records request to join a group named 'Basic Instinct' which didn't last long but led to another female trio, 'Choice.' The group didn't stay together long either, but had Pink ready for a solo career and a place at LaFace Records.
