Lil Wayne was born Dwayne
Michael Carter on September 27, 1982, in
Louisiana. Lil Wayne formed Hot Boys
in 1997 (with Juvenile, Turk,
and B.G.) with Cash Money
Records. The rap group released 3 LPs: Get
It How U Live in 1997, Guerilla
Warfare in 1998, and Let
Em Burn in 2003. Lil Wayne began releasing
solo LPs in 1999. Lil Wayne quickly hit the
charts multiple times - often being featured on
hit songs by anybody that would ask him to rap on
it.
October 31: Birdman
and Lil Wayne released Like
Father, Like Son with the hits "Stuntin' Like
My Daddy," "Leather So Soft,"
"Know What I'm Doin," and "You
Ain't Know."
November 18: Lil Wayne and Birdman
topped the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart
for 1 week and Rap Albums chart for 1 week with Like
Father, Like Son.
December 25: The EP The
Leak
was released as a digital download with the
tracks "I'm Me," "Gossip,"
"Kush," "Love Me Or Hate Me,"
and "Talkin About It."
May 13: Lil Wayne could be heard
on the UsherLP Here
I Stand on the track "Love In This
Club Part II."
May 17: Lil Wayne topped the
Billboard Hot 100 Airplay chart for 10 weeks with
"Lollipop."
June 8: Lil Wayne topped the
Billboard 200 LP chart for 3 weeks,
R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart for 7 weeks, Rap
Albums chart for 8 weeks, and the Digital Albums
chart for 1 week with Tha
Carter III. The LP sold over 1 million copies
its first week of release in the US - the biggest
1 week sales total in over 3 years.

the year with sales topping 2.8 million.
October 17: Lil Wayne topped the
Billboard Hot 100 chart for 2 weeks, Radio Songs
chart for 5 weeks, and Pop Songs chart for 3
weeks helping out Jay Sean with "Down."
October 22: Lil Wayne plead guilty to
gun charges from 2007 and will likely be
sentenced to 1 year in prison when sentenced
early next year.
November 3: Lil Wayne could be heard
on the Weezer LP Raditudeon the track

February 20: Lil Wayne topped the
